Last night I got everything ready that I could to prepare for my planned bike ride to Key’s View this moring. I had the ice in my water bottles and two extra bottles for water, had my bike off the wall and on the stand, air in the tires, gels and food out that I was taking with me… The only thing I hadn’t decided on was what I’d wear… but no biggie. I checked the weather… no thunderstorm predicted til 1 p.m.. I went to bed early and got up at 4 a.m…. so plenty of time to wake up, eat and finish getting ready. I’m sitting here at the computer and hear a noise???? Didn’t think much of it…. then I heard it again… “What IS that?” Then I heard it again and finally figured out what it was…. Uh Oh! I went to the front door, opened it up…. and…. RAIN! Ugh! The sound I kept hearing was thunder! What to do? Will it keep raining? Or should I go ahead and get ready and leave as soon at it stops? Decisions! Decision! I finally decided, with the predicted rain and possible flash floods that it wasn’t a good idea for me to head out, even if it did stop raining… cuz what if it started up again and I got stranded in the Park???? So I changed plans and headed out to the garage and a session with EVIL Coach Troy and the 3 hour Tough Love Spinerval. It’s a good thing I didn’t decide to wait out the rain for an outside ride… It rained the whole time I was on the trainer in the garage….. and remained cloudy with rain threatening the rest of the day…..

OK…. not really… But I just saw all four Rambo movies and I now get what the means! I mean… I always had an idea what it meant…. but now I know! Hubby laughs at me a lot over movies I haven’t seen! (Like the original Rambo movies.) I also had never watched Jaws until a couple of years ago. We had a Jaws day to rectify that. I also had never watched Indiana Jones before I watched all three in preparation of the new one that just came out. I forget some of the other movies that he just shakes his head when I tell him I’ve never watched it!

We had a doozy of a storm yesterday! Roads were flooded and blocked…. women being rescued from fast water… roads washed away…. cut off from the rest of the world! YIKES! The dark clouds started coming in… it’s always fun to watch cuz we see them so seldom. When one of my co-workers attempted to go home called back to say he was stuck in traffic (traffic? in the desert?) I turned on the radio to find out the highway into town was closed… in thre different spots! The other way in via the National Park was also closed as a section of the road had washed away! We couldn’t leave work cuz the way out the back gate was closed/flooded (that’s where the fast water rescue took place)… the way out the other (”condor”) gate was useless as the roads you took from there were flooded and blocked with downed power poles. And the main road out the main gate was blocked by up to 3 feet of mud… cars/trucks stuck in that and another downed power pole! They finally got one of the roads clear enough to open it, as well as the main highway cleared. We did have to drive through some deep running water…. cops/volunteer patrol were guiding cars through… and all sorts of machinery was out on the road clearing away mud! The road I usually home was also blocked… so we had to go way out of our way and double back! But at least we got home! At one point they had said the storm was back…. that’s when I hightailed it out the door! I didn’t want to get stuck at work all night! ICK! This morning the main road was still closed… from the top of the hill you can see what looks like a lake in front of you! I had to turn to go my usual way in (I had gone the other way to get some gas!) The rest of the week calls for isolated thundershowers… let’s hope they aren’t as severe!

A couple of weeks ago when hubby and I were food shopping I came across some new reduced fat Sargento’s cheeses. They had coupons attached so I decided “I” wanted to try one. I asked hubby if he wanted any and he declined. We had some turkey burgers since then and I shared my cheese with him cuz I thought it would be good on them (it was). However I was saving the rest for when we had turkey burgers again. So today we are entering his food into BalanceLog and he had just made a sandwich and I recognized my cheese on it! (colby has that distintive 2 tone) UGH! There were other slices of cheese in the fridge but he decided to eat my cheese! BRAT! I would have happily bought him any of the flavors they had AND more than one package if he wanted/needed it for his lunches, etc! GRRRRRRR! I had ONE measly slice of MY cheese! (There is one slice left that he knows is mine when we have turkey burgers this week!) Don’t get the wrong idea… we don’t usually have his and her foods… but there are some things that we buy that we each specifically pick out (i.e. my cheese! lol!) I eat different frozen veggies than he does… so we’ll each pick a bunch of the packages according to what we think we want…. and he’s more likely to eat “bad” desserts than I am… and for lunch he eats different things that he always picks out whereas I normally eat chocolate/peanut butter oatmeal every workday (it’s YUMMY and healthy!)
